Based on the responses of 468 respondents, an Italian team of researchers found that maladaptive daydreaming (MD) was associated with traumatic experiences, maladaptive personality features, alexithymia, shame feelings, and anxious attachment styles. The scale has been validated now in four different languages and shows excellent reliability and usefullnerss as tool for the study of MD in a variety of cultures.
