International Consortium for Maladaptive Daydreaming Research
2017-2026

The International Consortium for Maladaptive Daydreaming Research (ICMDR) was founded in 2017 and remained online until 2026. During these nine years, it brought together more than 35 researchers at different career stages from 17 countries. Its website also underwent several updates, content expansions, and design changes.

Alongside making academic information accessible, including scientific publications and empirical research tools, the site systematically collected references to maladaptive daydreaming across a wide range of media: print and online publications, radio and podcast interviews, informative videos, webpages, online communities, blogs, visual art, and personal testimonies from across the internet. You are invited to explore the MD information collected between 2017 and 2026 in the MD info archive.

From 2017 to 2021, news items were published periodically on the consortium’s website. In 2022, we launched an online newsletter, regularly sent to a subscriber list that grew over the years to several thousand readers. In December 2025, the final newsletter was published as ICMDR’s farewell. Published news items and all ICMDR newsletters are available in the ICMDR news archive.

The Maladaptive Daydreaming Research Hub (MDRH) is a curated academic website and repository of information on maladaptive daydreaming and related immersive forms of daydreaming. Originally established in 2017 as a platform for international scientific cooperation, the site now serves as a resource for researchers, clinicians, students, affected individuals, families, and others seeking reliable information, publications, assessment instruments, and updates from the field.
