Approaching 2021 with hope

We are wrapping up a year of psychological challenges in the shadow of the Covid-19 pandemic. We have learned a lot about stress and resilience and realized that maladaptive daydreaming intensified under the lockdown, along with accompanying mental distress. The emerging field of MD has made some significant gains during 2020 with 12 newly accepted and published peer-reviewed papers (7 by ICMDR authors).

We have just come across some interesting information about MD and the performing arts. Marcus Lindeen is a Swedish director who made a name for himself in the documentary film world. He directed the 'Regretters', and 'The Raft', both of which were very unique, and well received. Apparently, Lindeen wrote and directed a play on Maladaptive Daydreaming he called 'Wilds Minds'. The play and was first performed in 2013 in Stockholm, Sweden, and most recently, this year in Chile, in its Spanish version “Ments Salvajes”. The play uses

audio from interviews with maladaptive daydreamers, and the audience is invited to be involved in. MD continues to capture the interest of journalists worldwide. Here is an example of a recent story in a Miami-based magazine and here is a recent published story in a New York-based lifestyle magazine.

We also wish to share with you a 95-minute webinar by Eli Somer, titled: Maladaptive daydreaming: Pathways to an unrecognized dissociative disorder. The webinar is brought to you by the Delphi Centre in Australia, who produced the event.
