The ICMDR News list you are subscribed to now has 1030 members and growing. We get daily requests to join it. We are also delighted to inform you that we established a Google Group for MD researchers. The researchers’’ email list will provide a platform for peer consultation and collaboration and has 52 members ranging from graduate students to senior university professors. Contact us if you wish to join this research group. The ICMDR Google group has already yielded a multi-country collaboration led by Dr. Nirit Soffer-Dudek. Nirit is spearheading an epidemiological study that will assess the prevalence of MD in non-clinical populations.

The worldwide interest in MD is also reflected in ongoing coverage in various international outlets. Recent stories on MD were featured in the Swedish daily Svenska Dagbladet, the Malay news website Siakap Leli, the Turkish Izmir Times, and the Italian Ultima Voce.

Furthermore, our main measure, the MDS-16, has been also recently translated into Greek, Montenegrin, Slovenian, and Bengali bringing the number of languages the MDS-16 is available to 37. For those using the original English language MDS-16, please note, that the newly adjusted cut-off score above which we suspect the presence of MD is now 40 (not 50 as it had been). See a more detailed explanation here.

But that does not complete our news about developments in MD measurement. For those of you who wish to assess or study childhood MD, we invite you to review and download the Childhood maladaptive daydreaming scale (C-MDS, Theodore-Katz, N., Marks, R. P., Ross, C. A., & Soffer-Dudek, N., in preparation).

Several additional exciting studies are in preparation these days, promising a bright future for our growing field. Stay tuned!

The Maladaptive Daydreaming Research Hub (MDRH) is a curated academic website and repository of information on maladaptive daydreaming and related immersive forms of daydreaming. Originally established in 2017 as a platform for international scientific cooperation, the site now serves as a resource for researchers, clinicians, students, affected individuals, families, and others seeking reliable information, publications, assessment instruments, and updates from the field.
