Recently, we became aware of an MD study published in Pakistan: Anwar, M., Aqeel, M., & Shuja, K.M. (2018). Linking Social Support, Social Anxiety and Maladaptive Daydreaming: Evidence from University Students of Pakistan. Foundation University Journal of Psychology, 2(2), 139-179. Today we were informed about a Hungarian paper reporting that high levels of celebrity worship were associated with problematic Internet use, maladaptive daydreaming, and desire for fame. The paper used our definitions of MD, the 16-item Maladaptive Daydreaming Scale (MDS-16) and it quotes several ICMDR papers. Publication of MD papers authored by non-ICMDR partners contributes to the broader academic acceptance of this new construct as a useful and valid mental health issue.#maladaptivedaydreaming #research
